Lucia Camacho

Infant/Toddler Teacher

Lucia was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. Sher arrived in the United States when she was 20 years old. Lucia lives in Elgin with her husband and her three sons; a six-week-old, a six-year-old and a nine-year-old. Lucia attended Elementary and Secondary School in Mexico, however she earned her GED from Elgin Community College.

She has always been interested in working with young children, and finally got that opportunity through her children’s daycare. Lucia has been working for the Ivy Academy of Early Learning since December 2014 and has enjoyed working with infants and toddlers, as well as their parents. She takes pride in being part of Abriendo Puertas (Parent Education Program) and has enjoyed being part of the CDA (Child Development Associate) team within the Ivy Academy

“I have always dreamed of being a teacher, and with the help of the Ivy Academy, CDA program, and the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, I have now achieved this dream.”  Lucia currently takes online in services that keep her updated in the education program. “I am blessed, and appreciate the trust the parents have in me to care and educate their children.” Her hope is to continue working towards a higher education.
